Rachel Parodneck, LCSW
Rachel grew up in New Jersey and moved to New York City to attend New York University, where she studied psychology and art at Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Rachel received her Master of Science in Social Work graduate degree at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Most recently, Rachel completed NYU’s post-graduate certificate program in advanced clinical practice.
Rachel’s clinical interests are working with those experiencing substance use disorder and mood disorders as well as working with groups. She has experience facilitating group therapy focusing on a variety of issues: substance abuse, grief & loss, anxiety, gender & sexuality, and eating disorders. Rachel brings compassion and empathy to all facets of the groups at Refresh.
Rachel is passionate about early childhood education and universal healthcare. She has volunteered as a tutor for elementary school aged children at Henry Street Settlement and at Housing Works, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. She also loves animals and volunteering as a dog companion at the Animal Care and Control.
Rachel believes that self-care is an important part of any healthy lifestyle. For her own self-care, she enjoys playing classical piano, perusing thrift stores for unique treasures, going to farmers markets, and traveling.
Rachel grew up waiting to live in New York City and now resides in Manhattan. The vibrancy and diversity that make up New York City are the reasons Rachel is proud to call this great city home.
