Laura Barthelemy, MFT-LP
Laura Barthelemy is a Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to working at Refresh, she also works in the Substance Abuse Counseling and Opioid Treatment Program at Montefiore Hospital.
Her training in Marriage and Family Therapy encompasses 5 years, two of which included clinical treatment in outpatient, in-home and community treatment settings. She has worked with children, millennials, adults, and families providing short and long-term treatment that utilizes both collaborative and humanistic approaches which are centered around the client’s strengths. Laura strives to incorporate evidence-based practices in her work to holistically treat the mind, body, and soul. She is interested in the diverse cultural dynamics in which one lives and envisions themselves, specifically how emotional, mental and physical oppressive states challenge the human experience.
While working with clients she began to understand the meaning of self-expression and the different ways people may perceive themselves and others. Her patience and ability to meet individuals and families where they are without judgement, allows her clients safe and secure through their process.
Laura is always on a journey and outside of work, you can find her spending time with family, friends, reading or walking her puppy, Bear.
