James McAllister, LMSW
James was born and raised upstate in Syracuse NY. He received a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. After completing his master’s he obtained his LMSW and is working toward his clinical license.
James has extensive experience working with underserved populations. James has worked extensively in the public sector to ensure housing for marginalized New Yorkers who are HIV-positive in addition to working with vulnerable New York’s diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. James has also worked within the recovery community supporting the loved ones of those who are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.
James’s treatment style is collaborative and eclectic. He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic techniques to work with clients. James is also interested in EMDR, Somatic Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Hypnotherapy.
James loves the diversity of New York City and uses his passion for social work to particiapte in social justice initiatives. He enjoys reading, writing, meditation, yoga, and Reiki.
