Elizabeth Horsburgh, MSW
Elizabeth grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Elon University and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. Elizabeth previously worked in forensic social work roles in child welfare and then in a public defender’s office.
Elizabeth is interested in social justice, equity, and human rights for all people. Elizabeth’s worked in the criminal legal/justice system with cis and trans women, single mothers and their children under 18 years old, and people affected by the criminal legal/justice system. She has experience working with survivors of gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking.
Elizabeth is certified in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She uses a blend of strategies to understand a client’s unique story and provide individualized care.
Elizabeth is a proud member of the Asian American Pacific Islander community. She enjoys the outdoors, reading, baking, and cooking. Elizabeth’s self-care is exercising her body by practicing yoga, and her mind by practicing mindfulness. A true New Yorker Elizabeth loves walking! She also enjoys performing random acts of kindness each day.
